If there is any possibility you or your family could be stranded somewhere, then the don’t leave without the “Ersa”. Still in the prototype phase, it could be a killer product in the near future. Currently a finalist in the Australian Design Awards and designed by UNSW student Scott Norrie.
“The design is responding to the problem of severe dehydration and death in remote areas due to lack of water in an innovative way. Ersa allows the user to generate water from the surrounding air in survival situations. The design utilises renewable energy (30W solar module) in creating water and allows for the use of this power to charge portable devices such as GPS units, mobile phones and also allows the user to trickle charge the vehicle’s battery. The product is entirely original and unique.”

I don’t remember the last time I was thirsty in the desert. But I can get a hand held reverse osmosis pump and purify my urine if I was so desperate.
Can it be cooler than that?
I thing that these devices have to be developed, since it is the future of all energy sources. multi-purpose solar rechargers is the way to go.
