Philips new Ambilight technology is designed to further enhance the viewing experience on their line of Cineos 32″-50″ flat-panel televisions. The Ambilight technology produces ambient light that is complimentary to the colors and light intensity of the content you are watching. This is supposed to create a more relaxed viewing experience as well as improving perceived picture detail, contrast, and color. In addition to reducing strain on the the viewers’ eyes, the ambient lighting makes the television picture appear to be floating, independent of the stand.
