We’ve all heard of the bug zapper. It attracts bugs with its enticing light, they fly in, and ZAP… dead bug. Some people object to the use of products like this because it kills good bugs and it effects the mirco-environment. Well, we can meet the objectors half way because this baby is solar. But you killed a harmless fly… Yes, and it didn’t cost me a dime.

Can you tell us whether or not this really did a good job in zapping bugs? Pretty much every review of every solar-powered bug zapper seems to indicate they simply don’t have enough juice to actually fry bugs, and end up being little more than expensive UV lights. Do you have any specs on how much power this thing really generates and releases?
Thanks!
I own this specific bug zapper. I got it at Cabela’s, but they no longer sell it. I use it specifically in my tent, to kill any bugs their. What is nice about this zapper is when its dark, it automatically comes on, and when I combine that with a motion detection solar lantern; when one goes on, the other turns off. So when no one is in the tent, the solar zapper is on and when I enter the tent, the solar lantern I own comes on and the zapper automatically turns off. For tent use it kills bugs well, for out door use, I would not recommend it.
