
Several different manufacturers have released secure USB keys and external drives with biometric scans. But what if you got your finger chopped off? The Lenovo Mobile Vault is one of the first to include a numeric keyboard with 128-bit encryption. Users will have to enter their passcode each time they want to access their data, which offers an extra layer of security to help keep data safe. The device is capable of 10 unique user IDs plus one administrator account to be used for each HDD, and encryption is done in real time. No power adapter is needed since it draw power directly from the USB port.
According Lenovo 2 models will be offer with 160 and 320 GB of the portable hard drive. The 160 GB model will retail for $179 and the 320 GB will be available for $219 and will come to a store near you this month.
