Is Sony the new Prada? Well, not really. But they are behind this interesting prototype dress that lights up when the wearer receives a phone call on their cellular. Tennis ace Maria Sharapova was on hand to promote the knee-length, short-cap dress at a London Liberty boutique this month.

The concept was designed by British fashion student Georgie Davies as part of a school project with cellular giant Sony Ericsson. The goal was to find new ways of fusing fashion and technology.

The summery frock is designed to eventually integrate with the wearer’s cell phone via Bluetooth wireless technology. The right shoulder is adorned with translucent white scales that illuminate and move when their phone rings. How fun!

Perfect for places where it’s so loud a girl can barely hear herself talk, let alone know that her cellular needs attention!
