True, many new computers nowadays come with webcams. But I like IPEVO’s Point 2 View (P2V) 2.0MP USB Web Camera because it gives you more options than just the standard screen-mounted perspective. The unique stand is equipped with multiple joints so you can position it in a variety of directions, allowing the camera to capture visuals from any distance or angle. You can also hold the camera like a pen, and literally point to view anything you like. But if you’re a fan of the standard chat perspective, you can always do that too. Just use the included universal monitor clip to mount the P2V to any standard laptop screen or monitor. There’s also a macro-mode setting, which lets users take close-up video or images from as close as 2″ (5cm) away. And at $69 it’s still quite affordable. Easy to set up – install the software, plug the camera into any standard usb portContinuous or single-click autofocus, one-touch snapshot modeCompatible with popular IM apps like Skype, Google Talk, AOL, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo!Mac and PC compatibleIPEVO Point 2 View USB Camera via Gizmodo No Comments »

There’s been a lot of buzz about the Apple Magic Mouse, the world’s first Multi-Touch mouse. I wouldn’t be surprised if it shows up in stockings everywhere this holiday season. Smooth and buttonless, it’s built with a sleek low-profile design and seamless top shell. The Multi-Touch area spans the entire top of the mouse, and the mouse itself acts as the button. Just like your iPhone or iPod touch, the Magic Mouse is equipped with Multi-Touch technology that lets users use swipes and gestures right on the mouse’s surface. Click or double-click anywhere, scroll in any direction with one finger, or swipe through photos and web pages with 2 fingers. In fact, it’s really an experience – using gestures is almost like directly touching what’s on your computer screen. Imagine swiping through web pages the way you’d flip through pages in a magazine. So cool. Miniature sensors can detect the smallest movements, and the mouse can easily distinguish between gestures like a scroll and swipe. It’s even smart enough to understand when a user’s just resting their hand atop it. It also supports momentum scrolling, meaning the scrolling speed is controlled by how fast/slow you perform that gesture. The Magic Mouse comes standard with new iMacs, but you can also add it to any Bluetooth-enabled Mac. Uses laser technology (20x the performance of traditional optical tracking) – no mousepad requiredWirelessly connects to your Mac via BluetoothUse the On/off switch to conserve battery power when not in useAmbidextrous designSystem Requirements: Bluetooth-enabled Mac computerMac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0Existing keyboard and mouse for setupApple Magic Mouse No Comments »

Every year I try to give my mom another kitchen appliance for her to go nuts with. I see corn dogs in our future. This Corn Dog Maker will let her cook up 6 carnival-style corn dogs in minutes, without all the oil. Comes with 24 sticks to get you started. Apparently you can also try it with “cheese, pizza, candy bars and more”, although I’m still scratching my head as to how I’d go about doing that with this machine. I’m sure the included recipe book would tell me. Corn Dog Maker No Comments » |
