canon-vixia-hf10-flash-memory-high-definition-camcorder.jpg

The VIXIA HF10 is one of Canon’s first AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) format Flash Memory camcorders. AVCHD uses an MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video codec, recording true 1080 High Definition resolution video. An advantage of the AVCHD format is that it captures twice as much video using less storage, which enhances the extended recording time possible with 16G Flash Memory, up to 4 hours 45 minutes in SP mode with the internal memory.

Create the look and feel of Hollywood movies with the 24p Cinema Mode or capture fast action optimized for web viewing in 30p Mode. You can even use Canon select Photo grabbing function to capture still images from your video footage.

creative-xdock-hd.jpg

Apple, I hope you have something up your sleeve with Apple TV because Creative has just introduced the Xdock HD. The tag line is, “The ultimate iPod dock for your home theater system.” It’s the only iPod dock that upconverts your video to 720p or 1080i resolution. Not only a great picture but, out of the box you get full DTS surround sound. If that’s not enough, the Xdock HD can wirelessly distribute music throughout your home to X-Fi Wireless Receivers up to 100 feet away without requiring a wireless network.

The Xdock HD connects to a home theater system via HDMI, or it can be connected with component or composite for video and analog line-out or optical line-out for audio. While it docks and charges an iPod, the Xdock HD outputs a menu to an HDTV screen which users can navigate with the included wireless remote to select videos, music, photos and podcasts stored on select iPod models. Users can also adjust video settings including skin tone correction, luminescence sharpening and color saturation.

The Xdock HD is designed for use with the iPod Touch, iPod Classic, new iPod Nano and previous-generation iPods.

Available this Spring for US$399.99 (via CES)

Sick of the limitations of where you can put that high definition device? I want the TV on this wall but, the HDMI DVD player is 15 feet away, on the other side of the room. You could run a HDMI cable through the walls but, that’s no fun and permanent. What if you have 3 or 4 devices with HDMI out and need a HDMI switcher? With todays technology, there must be a better way? Well, there is… The Belkin FlyWire allows you to hook up to six HDMI devices and transmit them to any HDMI ready TV. The transmitter/receiver combo lets you toggle up to six HDMI sources and wirelessly transmit the audio and video (up to full 1080p) from one side of the room to the other. Not all the specs are available at this time but, look for the FlyWire to hit the street by mid summer for under $1,000. A large price to pay for this luxury.

harmony-one.png

Logitech has just announced a new universal remote called the Harmony ONE . Though it doesn’t out do Logitech’s high end remote, it does bridge the gap from their 800 series remotes. Well, maybe “gap” is a harsh word? I have the 880 and I couldn’t ask for much more from a universal remote. Well, maybe I could? Add a color touch screen!

The Harmony ONE includes a full-color touch screen that gives you easy, one-touch access to any entertainment activity. Ready to watch a DVD… One simple press of the touch screen and the Harmony One remote does the rest. The Set up is an easy five minute QA session on the pc and supports just about every electronic device on the planet. If that’s not enough, there are no more battery worries because the remote includes a rechargeable battery. If the Harmony ONE performs anything like my Logictech 880, I’d rate this as the best middle rage remote on the market!
