Well, I guess there are no bounds to what the human race can think up. Some students at Berkeley used Lego Mindstorms, scissors, and some scrap metal to make a automatic toilet paper folder. Dr. Brown would be proud… A great story about a man, Geoff Hudspith, who had a vision 30 years ago. Years of collecting parts, enhancements and tweaks has made this bike what it is today. Now, this is no speed daemon. At a 15-20 minute startup time, you’ll get about a top speed of 8mph. You’ve got to admit, this is a dam good mod and you can’t help but appreciate the work done here. Well done Geoff!

The Hudspith Steam Powered Bicycle

Makes sense to me… If you are going to the gym anyway, we might as well harness the energy from the treadmill, stair-master, stationary bike and even the fitness floor that would normally just be wasted. Of course, it takes energy just to run this equipment, but you are also putting energy into the workout. This can be captured into a storage battery or sent back to the power grid for later use. Now, we aren’t talking about a power plant of electricity here. Quote from the WSJ – “If all the exercise machines were in use 10 hours a day for a year, the gym could generate roughly $183 worth of electricity.” Not much, but if all the gyms in the country did this… Well, you do the math.

If you think you’ve seen it all, well have a look below. This amazing video has been taking the net by storm and is causing all kinds of buzz around the water cooler. You’ve got to give the creator props for this mod. It launches a canned beverage with great accuracy every time. It’s been designed into a mini frig that contains a can rack that lifts the beverage out and closes to reseal the exit hole. The robot arm then catapults the can to it’s destination. The device may be the ultimate in lazy, but the time and effort put into this more then makes up for a lifetime of lazy. Well Done!

Cool your CPU while drinking? Don’t through out that old PC just yet… Hack it into something useful and keep it forever. Now I would not suggest doing this to a computer that’s currently in use. So, if you have a reject laying around the house, this mod would make a great conversation piece to any party house…
