Before you know it, December will be here and for many people that means picking the perfect Christmas tree. But for some families, they just don’t have the space. So there’s the Frasier Fir Flat Back Christmas Tree. It’s great for tight spaces because the backside is flat, so you can push it up against a wall and take up a fraction of the space (it extends just 26″ from wall). Includes a half-round stand and 600 commercial-quality mini lights. But all that space-saving convenience doesn’t come cheap – expect to pay $300 for one of these badboys. Yikes, for half a tree? I’m already loving this product, and I haven’t even tried it yet. The T-fal ActiFry is part of the Nutritious & Delicious Series of T-Fal products, designed to shake up the way we prepare our favorite meals. The unique selling feature of the ActiFry is that it cooks food in a healthier way but still retains the same flavors and textures we’ve come to expect from our favorite eats. Take fries for example. The appliance features a unique patented technology that combines a heating system and stirring paddle to somehow cook up tasty homemade fries with just 1 tablespoon of oil! That means 1 spoonful of oil in the ActiFry can cook up to 2 pounds of french fries – enough to feed a family of four. I know, hard to believe! That equates to one french fry with only 3% fat content in the ActiFry vs. up to 18% fat in a fry prepared the traditional way. Mind you, you have to use good oil of course (like olive or canola), to achieve those low-cal results. It’s versatile too – the ActiFry can be used to prepare meats, poultry, fish, risotto – even granola and desserts. With little to no oil required. So not only does it create lower-fat versions of the foods we all love, but because there’s so little oil required, it means a safer cooking experience and virtually no oil to dispose of either. Watch it in action here. The ActiFry is currently available in Europe under the Tefal brand. You can find it in North America in select kitchen supply stores and specialty retailers, or you can pre-order one now for $299. That way, you’re ready to rock when it hits the masses. If you own a dog, especially a small breed like I do, you know they bury their little mugs in their food, slop it all around, push the bowl everywhere and basically make a mess of their face and your floors. It’s not the dog’s fault, it’s because most feeding dishes aren’t designed from a dog’s POV. Introducing the Hugx Pet Feeding Bowl and Stand. It’s unique contoured bowl and arched stand make it easier for dogs to eat by placing food at near eye-level and eliminating the deep grooves/corners in traditional bowls that make dogs want to bury their heads in the first place. The Hugx Pet Bowl also won the 2008 Lifestyle Innovation Award at New York Pet Fashion Week (yes, there’s a NY Pet Fashion Week). There are so many alarm clocks on the market, it’s hard to get excited about one anymore. But the TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock really is different. It’s so smart it never needs setting or resetting! Simply plug it in and choose your time zone – the TimeSmart will automatically set the correct time, and even resets itself after its unplugged or the power goes out. Talk about convenient! The battery back-up system lasts up to five years, so it ensures the time is consistently accurate, even in the event of several power interruptions. When there is a power outage, the TimeSmart retains the correct time, your preferred alarm settings and the date. The alarm clock can adjust to 6 time zones, and auto-adjusts for Daylight Savings Time too. I’m also a fan of the dual crescendo alarms which wake you up gradually and let you set 2 different wake-up times. Perfect for couples on different morning routines. Pop-up alarm button makes it easy to spot on those groggy morningsDigital display with adjustable backlight (5 settings to choose from; High, Medium, Low, Dim or Off)All this for only $40. There’s also a TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock Radio for $65, which has all the same features as above, but also with a digital AM/FM radio and auxiliary port for headphones, CD and MP3 players. via The Green Head No Comments »

What a smart, simple (and safe) idea! Unlike traditional piggy banks, this Balance Keeping Bank tracks both deposits and withdrawals, and keeps your coins neatly divided in case you ever need a quick quarter or decide to wrap a few coin rolls to take to the bank. The bank holds $25+ and can distinguish between different coins, dividing them into 4 separate chambers as they’re deposited. The balance is displayed on an LCD screen at the top of the unit, while the translucent body’s markings help you see the money saved per denomination. The body rotates for easy dispensing, and the bank can retain the balance even if the power goes out. Requires 2 AA batteriesWorks with U.S. coins onlyBalance Keeping Bank 1 Comment » |
