It was only a matter of time before WiFi made it to the scale and Withings as stepped up.  Not only is the $185 scale precision perfect but, it’s very attractive as well.  With it’s clean lines, glossy look and chrome accents, one might think Apple makes this product.  Well, the apple doesn’t fall from the tree because one of the market pitches for this scale is you can track your daily weight, fat mass, lean mass, and BMI on the free iPhone app.

So, it’s cool to look at, it’s extremely accurate, tracks all of you data and sends it up to the internet for data mining online or on your iPhone.  Could that be all? breastlight-breast-cancer-device

breastlight-breast-cancer-device

Invented by Dr. David Watmough, the Breastlight is a new device that women can use to monitor changes to their breasts over time – right from the comfort of their own home. When used properly, the device can help women become more breast aware and detect early stages of breast cancer.

The Breastlight is compact and leverages the latest technological advancements as used in specialized hospitals and clinics. Because the unit uses red LED to shine a light through breast tissue, its best when used in very dark spaces.

The light helps you see veins, blood vessels, dark spots, and even new blood vessels, which can often indicate (and feed) new tumors that are cancerous.

The idea is that women can use the Breastlight to become more breast aware and familiar with
the normal, healthy state of their breasts. When something new appears, it’s easier for a woman to spot because it falls outside of what she’s used to seeing.

The Breastlight should not be used as a replacement for traditional mammograms. Rather, it’s a convenient way to stay atop your health in between doctor’s visits. It even helped one trial user to detect small dark areas in her left breast that were later confirmed by her doctor as a 2cm tumor.

The Breastlight has been available in the U.K. since November 2008 and is also available at Rexall pharmacies throughout Canada for $150 CAD. Sale of the Breastlight in the U.S. is currently under negotiation.

signos portable ultrasound medical equipment

Signostics, a large medical equipment manufacturer, recently received FDA clearance on the Signos, the world’s smallest palm-sized ultrasound. In a world of ever-increasing medical costs, compact and cost-effective devices like the Signos may alter the way healthcare professionals practice medicine.

Looking much like a Blackberry (and about the same size), the Signos is a quick and cost-effective alternative for individual healthcare practitioners – making it possible to have ultrasound technology in their clinic at a fraction of the cost of traditional machinery.

The compact design means it’s convenient to keep in a pocket or wrapped around the neck like a stethoscope. It weighs just under a pound and the portability and “quick access” nature of the unit lends itself to numerous areas like emergency medicine, primary and critical care, pediatrics and palliative care. It’s also ideal for remote healthcare.

The machine can deliver high-resolution images anywhere, anytime for a variety of medical purposes like bladder and trauma assessments, screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm, internal bleeding, general obstetrics, and more.

  • up to 14 days sleep time
  • powers up in less than 1 second from sleep mode state
  • includes microSD card, which lets you save up to 20,000 images on the Signos
  • Free SigViewer Software allows for quick import of information and images to a computer
  • Signostics Medical via Next Big Thing Award

If you’ve ever stepped foot inside a stiletto, you probably know what torture chambers those little lovelies can prove to be. That’s why I’m certain this idea will appeal to millions of women worldwide.

Rollasole is a vending machine that has been popping up all over British clubs to help ease the pain of sky-high stilettos after a long night of Dom and dancing.

For just 5 pounds (about $8 USD), you can slip on a black, silver or gold pair of ballet flats and keep on dancin’ on. Best of all, you can easily roll them up and stash them in your purse for next time.

I see from Rollasole’s website that a “Weddings & Events” section is coming soon. Even more brilliant!

    Next up: Office Buildings??
