The RadarGolf System uses BPS (Ball Positioning System) technology to help locate lost golf balls, which can save time and money. The system is made up of 3 parts; a handheld, specialized RadarGolf balls and a Shield-It pouch. The handheld transmits a targeted radio frequency that works in conjunction with the balls. When the ball in play detects the signal, it sends out a return signal to the handheld (which is already tuned in to “listen” for any signals coming from that ball). Should you lose the ball, the handheld’s LCD’s signal strength indicators and a pulsed audio tone provide feedback on the lost ball’s distance and direction. As you get closer to your ball, the signal gets stronger. You just have to be careful because the handheld can detect all RadarGolfballs, whether they’re in your golf bag, cart, pocket or otherwise. So it’s important to keep all non-play balls in the Shield-It pouch, which is designed with a special metallic fabric that blocks radio frequency signals. This ensures the handheld focuses only on the game ball. You might wonder what effect all this technology has on the performance of the ball, but the embedded microchip is so small and has no power source, so makers claim it doesn’t affect your game in any way. Balls are USGA conforming and meet all the guidelines for size, weight, distance, symmetry and initial velocity. Balls are also tested for durability and performance factors such as distance, carry, roll, and dispersion accuracy. Handheld is water resistant and has a detection range of 30 to 100 feetWhen turned on, the handheld stays on for 5 mins (max time allowed by USGA rules to search for a ball)Comes with the handheld and carrying case, 12 RadarGolf Balls, Shield-It pouch set (one small, one large), manual and informational DVD, plus 6AAA BatteriesRadarGolf System No Comments »
We’ve seen the Foosball Coffee Table – now meet the Gumball Foosball Machine! It lets you play the popular game using chewable gumballs. Gumball machines sit atop each end and are released with each goal scored. The table is constructed with a steel frame and laminated playing area. A shatterproof, tempered glass cover keeps gumballs in play and the playing area clean. Luckily, it already comes with 1,700 multi-colored gumballs (geez, for $1500, I’d expect it to come with gold-plated gumballs! ) Gumball Foosball Machine No Comments »

One of the biggest issues with getting a Foosball Table is the space it can take up. In my case, have the space but, the wife would slap me asleep. The Foosball Coffee Table is the best of both worlds and a great compromise of the negative aspects in getting a stand alone Foosball Table. The table is made of solid poplar, while the table stands 20 inches high (which is a downside since you have to play on your knees). Tempered glass provides a nice coffee table top, while keeping the ball in play, but attracts finger prints like most glass tops do. Each end has score keeping beads and a stainless steel ball return. A very nice looking table that comes at a price. 600 clams will make you and potentially your significant other… happy? I recently had a chance to review the Cooler Light from Coghlan’s – a single LED light that attaches to the underside of your cooler’s lid and illuminates the contents when open. Pretty neat, huh? I mean, how many times have you sat around the campfire, gone to the cooler to grab a drink and suddenly realized you can’t see what’s inside? Ya, we’ve all been there. Anyway, the Cooler Light is really easy to set-up: Remove the white battery cover on the frontPull the inside tab to activate the Cooler LightScrew the cap back on, then use the adhesive on the back of the unit to attach it to your coolerThat’s it. From there, the simple motion achieved by opening the lid will cause the light to come on. The light is soft but focused and shuts off after 20 seconds (even if the lid is still open) to help preserve the batteries – which are included, a definite plus. The Experiment: I enlisted 5 of my closest male friends (who all thought it was a cool gadget, btw) and all the beer we could carry for a full weekend of boating and testing. Over the course of the weekend, the cooler was opened over 80 times, I kept count as much as I could. There were a few instances where the light flickered a bit, but the majority of the time it worked without incident – providing just enough light to see the contents, without being overly harsh on the eyes. It’s also water-resistant and you can use it on coolers with hinged or flat lids. The Verdict: I can’t vouch for how long the batteries would last with prolonged use, or what the effects of constant motion (walking with the cooler, having it move around in a boat, etc) would do to the battery life – I’d probably need a full summer of testing to get a true idea. But for the few days we tested it, and for just under $10, it’s a great little gadget, works well, and adds some convenience to your life when partying at night. Coghlan’s Cooler Light 2 Comments » |
